We used to work in Slough, Hounslow and Reading but kept meeting people from Bracknell.
So five years ago we opened our Drop In and then a Night shelter in Bracknell. We saw 93 homeless people with strong connections to Bracknell at the night shelter last year. Now we are opening a night shelter in Wokingham to help with the homeless there.
We do hope that as a result of housing people and helping them get job ready there will be less in Bracknell this year.
The Pilgrim Hearts Trust is able to help the homeless and those on the Edge who use our facilities thanks to generous donations from many people and firms.
We do all this with no support from the government or local councils and we are setting up a new night shelter in January 2020 in Wokingham. For this we need loads of sleeping bags, pillows, pillow cases and Outwell Campbeds. These all cost money. We need volunteers too.
We welcome support from Ranelagh School, Comic Relief, the Bishops of Oxford and Reading, Bracknell Lions, Easthampstead Round Table and the Crowthorne and Sandhurst Round Table, the Dive Club, Bracknell Town Council, the Berkshire Community Foundation, the Church Urban Fund, the John Lewis partnership Golden Jubilee Trust , L and G Homes, Persimmon Homes, Silva Homes, The Gannett Foundation, Southern Water, Waitrose, Tesco’s and the Warfield Park Community Association and from many other individual donors, local churches, local businesses, schools and companies.
Thank you all, and many blessings upon you!
